Max had a reputation for not following instructions, believing he could always find a better way. One sunny morning, the elder mouse, Grandpa Gruff, gathered the young mice to teach them the safest route through the meadow to the cheese festival. “Beware the hawk's eye and the lurking cat,” he cautioned, pointing out the path marked with pebbles.
Max, thinking he knew better, decided to take a shortcut through the tangled thicket. With hopes of arriving quicker, he dashed off despite the stern warnings. Halfway through the thicket, Max heard a rustling sound. Before he could react, he found himself face-to-face with Whiskerville’s slyest cat, Paws. In a flurry of fear and quick thinking, Max managed to escape after a narrow chase, leaving him breathless and weary.
A lesson learned the hard way, Max realized the value of listening to those who knew better, and perhaps, following instructions wasn’t such a bad idea after all.
